Meet Eric Burgon, D.D.S., M.D.
Dr. Eric Burgon grew up in Santa Cruz, California. He began his career at the University of California, San Francisco where he was awarded a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). While a student at UCSF, he was active in national and local dental organizations and served as the UCSF School of Dentistry Student Body President. He was also involved in research looking at the long term effects of nerve damage following third molar surgery.
Following dental school, Dr Burgon moved to North Carolina to continue his training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his residency he attended the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) in 2012. Dr Burgon then went on to complete a General Surgery internship in 2014. Dr Burgon served as Chief Resident his final year and was awarded a Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He gained wide scope training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial trauma and temporomandibular joint disorders. Dr Burgon was also involved in research during his time in Chapel Hill. He published several articles during his residency and was awarded the Oral Abstract Presentation Award at the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons National Conference in 2013. Dr Burgon is board-eligible and a member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Medical Association and American Dental Association. He is also a member of the North Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Eric is married to his lovely wife Brooke. They fell in love with North Carolina during Eric’s training program and are excited to call Asheville home. They have two sons. They are avid Tar Heel fans. They enjoy camping, hiking and cycling. They enjoy good food and spending time with their kids and dog in the outdoors.
