Meet Larry P. Parworth, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Parworth is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Dr. Parworth received his dental degree from the University of Minnesota in 1986. He completed his Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996.
Dr. Parworth practices full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery with special interest in dental implants and facial reconstructive surgery. Dr. Parworth is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, providing oversight for the training of the Chapel Hill and USN Portsmouth Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residents during their rotation at Mission Hospital.
Dr. Parworth is a fellow in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology as well as holds membership in the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has published several articles and a textbook chapter, as well as having lectured at several professional meetings.
Dr. Parworth is a retired Air Force Colonel, now settled in Asheville with his wife Kapi. They have 3 adult daughters; Georgia, Caroline and Emily. Prior to joining the practice in 2007, he was Chairman and Commander of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base California. Dr. Parworth enjoys spending time with friends as well as in the great outdoors that the Asheville area has to offer, hunting and fishing. He is originally from Manitowoc, Wisconsin and is a Diehard GreenBay Packer Fan. Dr. Parworth is committed to volunteer mission work, having participated in medical humanitarian missions to Nepal, the Philippines, Cambodia, South America and Africa.
